Wood Wins $2.8 Billion EPCm Contract from ADNOC to Modernise UAE’s Habshan Gas Complex

(IN BRIEF) Wood has been awarded a $2.8 billion EPCm contract by ADNOC to upgrade and expand processing at the Habshan and Habshan 5 gas complexes in the UAE, with around $400 million attributable to EPCm services. The scope involves debottlenecking existing units, installing new facilities, and making brownfield modifications to enhance capacity in line with ADNOC’s upstream expansion. Wood, having completed the front-end engineering design, will execute the work while the facilities remain operational to ensure uninterrupted gas supply. More than 500 specialists based in Abu Dhabi and supported by global hubs will deliver the project by late 2027, underscoring Wood’s leadership in managing large, technically demanding energy infrastructure projects.

(PRESS RELEASE) ABERDEEN, 11-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — John Wood Group PLC (“Wood”) has secured a $2.8 billion EPCm contract from ADNOC to engineer, procure, and manage construction upgrades at the Habshan gas processing complex in the UAE. Of this total, approximately $400 million is expected to be recognised directly for Wood’s EPCm services.

Under the agreement, Wood will implement extensive debottlenecking measures and capacity enhancements across the Habshan and Habshan 5 facilities and associated pipeline networks. This includes brownfield modifications and the addition of new processing units, all designed to modernise operations and boost gas throughput in support of ADNOC’s upstream growth strategy. Habshan ranks among the world’s largest gas processing hubs.

“ADNOC Gas’ Rich Gas Development programme is crucial to the UAE’s energy security and economic growth,” said Ken Gilmartin, Wood’s CEO. “Having delivered FEED for Habshan, we’re uniquely positioned to execute the EPCm phase without disrupting ongoing gas supply.”

Over 500 Wood engineers, project managers, and commissioning experts—based in Abu Dhabi and coordinated with global engineering centres—will carry out the work, slated for completion by the end of 2027. This project reinforces Wood’s standing as a provider of large-scale, complex engineering solutions.
